![]() ![]() "Honda is very lax in telling customers about extended warranties on their known parts that fail early. "PS high pressure was leaking took to dealer and they replace hose and pump" then power steering pump leaked blew other hoses when pump was replaced" "Power steering pumps was replaced 3 times during the first 3 years due to recall and malfunction" took in and was covered under a recall issue" "Power steering didn't seem to be working properly. "pump had to be replaced along with some associated part" Inconsistent power assist when cornering" The dealership commented that this was a known issue, and that the warranty for many vehicles had been extended for this part. "The power steering pump started to make noise, and the steering became choppy at low speeds. "Sterring pump replaced do to squaling under recall" Dealer had to be forced to do a repair even when there was recall issued" They supposedly did the recall repair but it didn't help" "Harder to steer than it was when we got it. They replaced the p/s tank and flushed the system" "Power steering pump replaced per recalll" "power steering pump failed and had to be replaced, known issue according to dealer" "The power steering pump has been replaced 3 times on this van." The power steering pump makes a loud whining noise in colder temperatures." "Power steering is intermittently stiff, particularly when the van is at slower speeds. "A gradual increase in leakage, ending up in replacement of rack and pinion, ball joints, and tie rod ends." I took it to my local mechanic, who found the leak, replaced the leaking part, and refilled the steering fluid." "I noticed the problem after driving from Florida to New York when a noise developed on starting the car and the steering felt funny. "Had to replace line and gasket was replaced" After searching internet, it was discovered that break fluid was very low." Then steering became sluggish, harder and uneven. "over 1-2 month noise develops and increased when turning. Now I am driving it and dealing with it but it's getting close to being unsafe to drive. He put more steering fluid in, but over time it has leaked out and made it difficult to steer. Mechanic looked at it but could not find the source of the leak. "It started about 6-9 months ago my wife had been driving it and noticed it. "I found the cost to replace the fluid lines surprising, $800." "Replaced PS rack, still causing problems - noise etc" "The bushings and the struts or under warranty because I had an extended warranty of a hundred thousand miles however the lower control arm was not covered cuz I had more than a hundred thousand miles I did not have it done at the dealer it was too expensive I had it done at another vendor $500 cheaper" "Dealer sated that bushings were cracked and need to be replaced" You can hear it thump when hitting road horizontal seams. It has too much free play according to mechanic, It is expensive to repair. "upper bushings and lower control arm needed to be replaced worn bearing on the end of the steering shaft. So now have it aligned once a year to be safe and the alignment equipment does say it is out of alignment each time." One dealer couldn't seem to align it properly, so went to another dealer and they did better, but alignment still seemed to go out. "Uneven tire wear started about 4 years ago. After having it fixed (approximately I paid $100), it still has the same problem" It pulls to the right and the tire wear is uneven" looks like expensive fix no free estimates. pulls right cant seem to get anyone to tell us what will fix it. Therefore, alignment has always been an issue for my van." In addition, Honda built these vans without the ability to adjust all three aspects of alignment. To mitigate this you must rotate them more often than usual, say every 5k miles versus every 10k. The Odysseys run a negative camber on the rear wheels which causes the tires to wear unevenly on the inside tread. "This issue of alignment also ties into tire wear. ![]()
